Palace on Wheels is the pride of the Indian tourism sector. This luxury
train, which started its operation in the year 1982, is counted among the
top ten luxury train of the world. A journey through this train will be
unparalleled, unique and unforgettable experience. The name 'Palace on
Wheels' is derived from the royal background of its coaches.
About the Train
The passenger coaches which were originally used by the erstwhile rulers of
Rajasthan, Gujarat and Nizam of Hyderabad have been used for Palace on
Wheels. These coaches have excellent interior decorations with lots of royal
touches and abundant presence of Rajasthani flavours. This train has
luxurious cabins, wall to wall carpetings, well stocked bars and mesmerizing
interiors which are simply breathtaking.
There are 14 fully air-conditioned deluxe saloons in the train. Saloons
have been named based on the erstwhile princely states of Rajasthan like
Alwar, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Bundi, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur etc. Each saloon has
been brilliantly decorated with immense use of traditional furniture,
handicrafts, paintings and furnishings. In every saloon there are four
sleeping rooms with attached bathroom and there will be one personal
attendant known as Khidmatgar, who will be always there to take care of the
personal needs of the passengers. Music channel and intercom facilities are
available in every room. Also all saloons have a mini pantry, well equipped
to provide ready tea, coffee and snacks.
The moment guests enter this train, they are provided with arrival kit
which consists of stationery items, brochures, cards etc. Other essential
toiletries items like soaps, shampoos, moisturizers etc are also provided.
Guests have many choices to make from array of dishes which include
Continental, Chinese, Indian and Rajasthani cuisines. There is large
collection of magazines to choose and every morning leading daily newspapers
will greet with hot cup of tea.
This journey which starts every Wednesday from Delhi cantt station, takes
through some of the best tourist destination of the India. On arrival at the
station, guests are given traditional welcome. This eight day journey will
cover scintillating places like Pink City Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Sun city
Jodhpur, Ranthambore and Lake city Udaipur.
The first stop during this whirlwind journey is Pink city Jaipur. Jaipur is
one of the most colourful city and is always teemed with visitors. This city
is surrounded by three hills and boast of many stunning monuments like Hawa
Mahal, Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort. Most of the structures have mix blend
of Mughal and Rajasthani royal flavours. Following days train will travel
through the beautiful Thar desert of state. Destinations like Jaisalmer and
Jodhpur which have many old forts and palaces will surely refresh the
visitors. This journey will take interesting turn as train reaches
Ranthambore. In the majestic Ranthambore national park, visitors will get
chance to sight the majestic tigers. City of lake Udaipur which has become a
hot tourist destination is the major attraction of this eighth day trip.
Lake Palace located on the Jag Niwas Island is simple unbelievable beauty

the last leg, Palace on Wheels will reach Agra. This city is the prize
host of Taj Mahal, the member of elite club of seven wonder of world.

Day 1: Delhi
16.00 hrs: Train departs from Delhi Cantt station.
It is from the Delhi Cantt station that this train starts its amazing
eight days trip. Tourists on arrival, are given warm welcome in the
traditional Indian style.
Day 2: Jaipur
02.00 hrs: Train arrives at Jaipur
First stoppage in this journey will be at Pink city Jaipur. An air
conditioned luxury bus will take guests to stunning monuments like Hawa
Mahal, Jaigarh fort and Nahargarh fort. Beautifully surrounded by three
hills on either side, Jaipur's palaces and forts attract large number of
visitors from all over the world. City Palace complex is the most
visited tourist site of state. Jaipur's Johari bazaar is famous for its
gems and jewelery products.
Lunch will be served at a prestigious Place hotel.
19.30 hrs: Depart towards Jaisalmer. Dinner on
Day 3: Jaisalmer
08.15 hrs: Arrival at Jaisalmer
Founded by a Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisla, Jaisalmer is an important
tourist destination. Desert of Jaisalmer is absolutely bewitching. It's
enticing forts, traditional havelis and vibrant culture will, for sure,
bring lot of smile on faces of visitors. Salim Singh ki Haveli and
Jaisalmer fort are two of the foremost tourist alluring destinations of
city that you will be visiting. Apart from this, you will also pay a
visit to Nathmal ji ki Haveli, Patwon-ki-haveli and shop at Rajasthali.
Post lunch, enjoy a camel ride at sam Sand dune.

23.00 hrs: Train departs for Jodhpur
Day 4: Jodhpur

Jodhpur often referred as 'sun city' , is a tourists' paradise. In all
of the Jodhpur's tourist spots, the touch of its ethnic culture,
splendor and traditions can be seen. Umaid Bhavan Palace, Mehrangarh
fort and Jaswant Thada are some of the mind-blowing historical monuments
found in Jodhpur. Of these Umaid Bhavan palace is the most prominent
tourist hub. It is very popular specially among the foreign tourists,
including many top Hollywood stars.
Tourist can go for shopping items like embroidered shoes, metal
curious, silver ware, paintings etc.
15.30 hrs: Start Onward journey
Day 5: Sawai Madhopur Ranthambore - Chittorgarh
04.00 hrs: Arrival at Sawai Madhopur
If one wishes to see tigers at their wild best then Ranthambore is the
place to be. In Ranthambore national park, tourists will have rare
opportunity to get close to tiger. This region which was once a royal
hunting ground, was declared a wild life sanctuary by the government in
the year 1957. This park is an important part of tiger conservation.
Other charm of Ranthambore are Chittorgarh fort and Sawai Madhopur.
